But this year is a good year to participate in the UFC. Directly after I saw the broadcasts of the UFC, I started with extra trainings (besides the aerobic lessons which I instruct in the centre) such as swimming, skeelering, running, power exercises. And lately I started with survival training to get familiar with abseilen, climbing, obstacle course and so on. The urge to participate in competitions started very early. I started at early age with gymnastics competitions where I have always performed well, I was number 1 of the Netherlands in my age group for a while My trainer thought I should go to a foster family to be able to train in Papendaal. As a 9-years old girl I choose to stay at my parents home and finally to stop with gymnastics. Directly after that I started to play tennis because everyone els in the family played tennis. Within 5 years I joined B-1 and started to play A-tournaments. Because of medical reasons I have stopped, but up until now I miss the competition element/challenge. Meanwhile I have a new challenge, building up our sport school, but that is starting to run well and so I feel the urge to find a new challenge. The feeling to train hard for a goal and then to perform in a competition. I hope that I will pass the physical pre selecions to live up the expectations during the disciplines at the Marine Corps. This is my reason to compete in the UFC 2002. Sporty greeting, Debbie Boudewijns | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
